Kia Haring nominated as Board member to Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communications Management as a representative for Nordic communications associations

The global association for communications professionals, Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management (GA), has nominated Kia Haring, Head of Communications and Sustainability at TietoEVRY, to their board of directors. Haring, as a member of the board of ProCom – The Finnish Association of Communication Professionals, will also represent the Swedish and Norwegian communications associations in the Global Alliance. Global Alliance has more than 300 000 members in about 120 countries globally.

The annual general meeting of the Global Alliance was held virtually from Lisbon on May 2. The new GA board has representatives from the following countries: Brazil, Canada, China, Finland, France, Ireland, India, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Puerto Rico, UK, USA, Spain and Turkey.

Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management supports and develops national communications associations and promotes international collaboration by offering global perspectives to essential questions concerning communications profession. The ambition for the Global Alliance is to develop communications function and professionals through e.g. research, ethics and by offering an international forum for networking. The most impactful single event is the World Public Relations Forum.

“In the Nordics, we are advanced what comes to democracy, freedom of speech, human rights, women’s rights as well as communications ethics and sustainability thinking. I truly believe that I can bring forth these views to the agenda of the global community, and in turn share the global insights and perspectives back to Nordics,” says Kia Haring.

“ProCom is active on the Nordic arena and collaborates with the sister organizations through e.g. common trainings and networking events as well as promoting the key activities in other countries. Digitalization makes international collaboration easier. Having common representative in the board of the Global Alliance is a result of a joint effort and true teamwork,” comments Elina Melgin, CEO of ProCom.

ProCom has about 2800 members, the communications associations in Norway and Sweden have 4250 and 5500 members respectively. The Nordic associations are relatively large networks considering the population in each country.
